Citing Article 51 of the UN Charter, which allows for legitimate defense, Iran defended its actions as warranted in the face of perceived threats, the Iranian mission in New York said in a statement quoted by IRNA.
Additionally, the statement emphasized that the conflict at hand is strictly between Iran and the occupying Israeli regime, warning the United States to refrain from its involvement.
"If the Israeli regime commits another mistake, Iran ' s response will be significantly more severe. This is a conflict between Iran and the rogue Israeli regime and the United States should stay away from it" the statement said.
Iran ' s response to Israel comes in the wake of the Zionist regime’s airstrike on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Syria.
Iran ' s UN mission also said that if the Security Council had condemned the Zionist regime ' s attack on embassy and subsequently prosecuted its perpetrators, perhaps it would be necessary for Iran to punish this arrogant regime.
The statement was referring to the three countries of the United States, Britain and France, as well as their allies, South Korea and Japan, that not only did not condemn the Israeli attack on the Iranian embassy, but also prevented the issuance of a UN Security Council statement on the attack.
